Data and Knowledge Engineering

Welcome to the Data and Knowledge Engineering (DKE) group. The main research focus of DKE is to build and develop solutions that can be used as mediators between diverse data sources and different applications/end users making use of machine learning techniques. This includes, but not limited to, extracting data and knowledge from different data sources, knowledge representation using different semantic web technologies, combine and integrate these data making use of knowledge graphs. In particular, we focus on the following topics:

• Semantic data integration
• Knowledge graphs
• Machine learning for data management

• Akanksha Vijayvergiya successfully presented her master's thesis on "Time Series Analysis for Life Science Data" on Oct 17, 2024
• The paper titled "On the Role of Preprocessing on Matching Tables to Knowledge Graphs" (authored by Vishvapalsinhji et al.) has been accepted for presentation at EKAW 2024's Poster and Demo Track.
• Berke Akkaya has joined the DKE chair as a PhD candidate and is working on "Enhancing a Large Language Model (LLM)-Based Knowledge Graph Attention Network (KGAT) for Recommendation Systems."
• Basma Jalloul has joined the DKE chair as a PhD student and is working on "Multimodal Approach for Cognitive Assessment of Psycho-Motor Function in the Elderly."
