Pool locations
The computer pools in the IM basement
In the basement of the building IM there are computer pools in the rooms K 08b IM (48 workstations) and K 08d IM ("Pool Aquarium", 24 workstations). Here students can work alone or in teams on lecture-accompanying exercises, internships or theses (Bachelor, Master) or simply practice freely.
In room K 08d IM ("Pool Aquarium"), the focus is primarily on individual undisturbed work, which is why this room is operated as a "Silentium Room". Teamwork, which of course requires communication between team members, is limited to room K08b. Teaching takes place in these two rooms only if the pool room 028 IM (see below) is already occupied.
In both rooms, there are power sockets to supply own laptops with power in addition to the permanently installed computers. However, the best place for laptop operation is the anteroom of K08, which is accordingly not equipped with pool computers.
The pool "Interactive Learning" (028 IM)
The pool room "Interactive Learning" (room 028 IM, lecturer's computer plus 30 workstations) was specially designed for teaching with computers or general equipment use. In addition to the workplaces equipped with computers, there are some additional workplaces, depending on the purpose, which can be used flexibly, e.g. for working with robots or simply as laptop workstations.
The computer workstations are connected via a so-called didactic network, with which, for example, the image content of the lecturer's computer or laptop can be switched to the beamers as well as to the pool computers. Texts in particular are much easier to read on the PC screens this way than via beamer projection. Remote control of all PC workstations is also possible.
The didactic network is controlled via a control panel placed next to the lecturer's PC. In order to facilitate the control of the functions of the didactic network, the positioning of the computer workstations of the pool is simulated on the control desk.
The documents mentioned below provide an overview of the functions of the didactic network in general. In addition, there are descriptions of how to operate the control panel, which you will also find in printed form next to the lecturer's PC:
- Product information about the didactic network "videodidact select
- Application example lecturer-PC, notebooks and beamer in interaction
- Application example remote control, locking, dark switching of PCs
- Brief instructions for control panel Basic functions
- Brief instructions for control panel Optional functions
- Short instructions Highlighting screen regions using the videodidact 3 key mouse
